I am very pleased to inform you that yesterday July 27th 2016, the Spanish Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation has submitted a formal request to the European Commission to set up the e-Science European Infrastructure for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research Consortium (LIFEWATCH-ERIC), with the support of the governments of Belgium, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, and The Netherlands.
Portugal and Rumania have re-confirmed their willingness to become a founding member of this infrastructure while some other countries intend to become observers from the very beginning. They are completing their internal procedures, hopefully we will receive their support letters very soon so they could be incorporated during the process.
For your convenience I am attaching the letter of our Secretary of State related with the formal submission of the LifeWatch-ERIC request.
Thank you all your kind cooperation. We will keep you duly updated about the new country incorporations and the outcome of the whole process.
